Stealing Hearts

Meet this month’s cover star Tayler Mercier / @taylermerceir
What does a typical day in your life look like? A typical day for me starts with morning meditation, then the gym . Afterwards, I take care of any errands or work that I have then I end my night with a hot bath and watch TV with my dogs.
How do you stay motivated and focused in a fast-paced industry? I actually perform my best in fast pace environments . I don’t do well with idle time I do better when my life is busy and fast paced so for me the most important way of managing that is to keep a really disciplined and structured schedule. I make sure and outline my day every night before I go to bed for the next day I write notes keep a calendar and stay organized and structured.

What’s one thing you do every day to keep yourself grounded and happy? I make sure and carve out a piece of time for myself each evening to relax whether that’s with meditation or a bath or a movie I make sure and spend some time each night on self-care.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career? I would say the most valuable lesson that I’ve learned in my career is to not box yourself into a single category or niche and never be afraid to go outside your comfort zone. You cannot grow outside of your comfort zone and the magic happens when you step outside of it.

What’s your philosophy when it comes to balancing work and personal life? This is actually an area that I’m not very good at. I’m a bit of a workaholic so I tend to prioritize work above all else and I’ve been trying lately to make sure that I prioritize the people that matter most in my life, friends and family. I’ve spent years putting work first and that’s great for your professional career, but at the end of the day family is so important so I’m learning as I go on how to keep that in balance.
What are some hobbies or passions you enjoy outside of work? I absolutely love traveling to new places and seeing new things I try to integrate that with work as much as possible so whenever I get an opportunity to travel for work I take it.
How do you approach challenges or setbacks, and what keeps you going? Challenges and setbacks are difficult for everybody, including me, but the most important thing for me is anytime I have a challenge or a setback to use that frustration as fuel. Anger, disappointment, and frustration can be excellent motivators if you can turn them into fueling a passion for success.
